Céleste is an Ottawa-based artist who sells her work in Canada and in the US. She has always been fascinated with the interplay between light and shadow and she loves exploring the magic of colour. The beauty of everyday life inspires her work.
Céleste began to focus on her art in a more intentional manner when she retired as an Executive Consultant and decided to move from Northern Ontario to settle with her family in Ottawa. Mostly self-taught, Céleste has taken classes at the Ottawa School of Art and Atelier de Brésoles (Montréal). She also learned from a variety of amazing teachers including Brian Buckrell, Ian Roberts, Susan Woolgar, Donata Szafian, Andrew Sookrah, Gordon Harrison and Dominik Modlinski .
Celeste’s work is currently featured at Studio 87 Gallery (Perth) and Foyer Gallery (Nepean). She has also exhibited her work at the Electric Street Gallery (Ottawa), Art in the Park (Ottawa), Trinity Gallery in Shenkman Art Centre, 2022 Ottawa Garden Festival at the Canadensis Botanical Garden, Algonquin Park Visiting Centre, Manotick Spring Show, Manotick Splash Gallery, White Water Gallery in North Bay and Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Center. She has also sold various commission pieces both in Canada and the US.
She is a member of the Manotick Art Association, the Foyer Gallery, Arteast Ottawa and Arts Carleton Place Association.
‘I love both oil and acrylic, often playing with both at the same time. I love to offer a subtle surreal quality to my work. I call it ‘the betwixt and between’, helping the viewer rediscover the magic and beauty in everyday life. Painting is the closest I ever get to expressing my gratitude for my life and the world around me. ‘
